as franchise quarterbacks. If they did, they’d draft one of them. So why not trade the selection within the division to the Titans or Colts? If Houston’s evaluation of the remaining quarterbacks is correct, they’d actually be setting the Colts or Titans back several years.
There’s a decent counterargument to be made there, but the Texans must reserve room for admitting their evaluation of the quarterbacks could be incorrect. Scouting quarterbacks is an inexact science. Under no circumstances should the Texans directly “help” a division rival draft their potential quarterback of the future.
