While some film franchises only have one or two good entries, it is unusual for a successful series to have not one good movie to its name.

While it may seem unlikely, some successful movie franchises manage to sustain numerous sequels despite having zero good movies to their name. Often, all it takes is one good movie to keep a franchise going forever. While 2007’s Transformers was a fun action blockbuster, all four of its direct sequels earned terrible reviews, and yet the series continued.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT 8 Step Up The Step Up movie series began in 2006 with its best outing, as the original benefited from the incredible chemistry between stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. However, the undeniably impressive choreography that the pair shared was one of Step Up’s only saving graces. Apart from acting as early evidence of Channing Tatum’s movie star potential, Step Up had few redeeming features.

6 Children Of The Corn The Stephen King short story “Children of the Corn” manages to wring a surprising number of scares out of its simple setup wherein a bickering couple gets lost in an abandoned ghost town and discovers the inhabitants have been killed by their own children. Its 1984 movie adaptation was not so fortunate, with the eponymous threat seeming more comical than scary. Despite this, Children of the Corn managed to rack up no less than 10 follow-ups.

4 Fantastic Four The Fantastic Four have had many shots at big-screen success but none of these panned out. Their failed attempt at a franchise began back in 1994 with the unreleased Fantastic Four movie, a dud so disastrous that the creators were accused of making the movie solely to hold onto the license. This was followed by 2005’s garish, cartoony Fantastic Four and 2007’s sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which proved both a financial and critical flop.
