Nurses and other healthcare workers athave voted to authorize a strike, claiming they’re understaffed and working in a toxic environment of harassment, abuse and discrimination.

Caregivers say many of the concerns they’ve raised at the bargaining table have not been resolved. As contract negotiations enter their sixth month, workers say they may have no other option but to prepare for a strike. The more than 700 workers, represented by SEIU Local 121RN, have been in negotiations with Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center since June. Their contract expired Sept. 30.

Bargaining team members say they are disheartened by the hospital’s inability to make progress on a proposal aimed at fixing what they see as a toxic workplace culture.
