UTSA coach Steve Henson speaks to his team during a timeout of their game against Incarnate Word at the UTSA Convocation Center on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.Western Kentucky outscored UTSA 20-3 over the final 8 minutes of the opening half to build a commanding lead and coasted to a 74-64 win against the Roadrunners on Saturday in the Convocation Center.

John Buggs III scored 15 points to lead five UTSA players in double figures, but the Roadrunners shot 33.3 percent and managed only 10 points in the paint. Hilltoppers 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharp — the NCAA leader with 4.36 blocks per game — posted 11 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks. UTSA also committed 17 turnovers, just two shy of a season high, as Western Kentucky built a 15-3 advantage in fast-break points.

The Roadrunners used an 11-1 run to trim the margin to six points with two minutes to play, but the Hilltoppers responded with a 3-pointer and sealed the win at the free-throw line.
