Cypress, who portrays the adult Tai, acknowledged the challenges of her role as well as the pressure of living up to such unimaginable hype when she initially read the script for the new season of “Yellowjackets.” Even Cypress admits she can’t help but lurk on discussion forums to see what viewers predict after each episode airs.
“I don’t know if it has to do with independence or coming into myself, [but] my characters are mirroring my personal journey. Being a queer woman of color in a historically white, male, straight-dominated space is intimidating, and there’s different ways to approach it,” Brown told SFGATE. “And my approach has definitely been, … I’m going to be bull-headed. I’m here, so I’m going to take up space with both Mindy and Taissa. I look at similar qualities in myself and run with that.
