Fairbanks may soon see new officers serving in the Golden Heart City.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Governor Mike Dunleavy congratulated 17 new law enforcement officers who received their badges in Sitka on Friday, June 23.

At this year’s Public Safety Academy, most graduates completed more than a 1000 hours of training in the span of 17 weeks which included extensive coursework. Some graduates, however, attended an 8-week training period to complete their requirements. This included law related topics, physical fitness, and scenario-based exercises.

Once recruits reach their first duty assignments, they will begin a 12-week field training and evaluation program. The recruits that are moving on to the Alaska State Troopers will be promoted upon their required probationary period.Congratulations to all the recruits from this year’s Public Safety Academy.
