Florida parents are suing McDonald's after claiming a chicken nugget left their child with second-degree burns

The parents of a four-year-old girl are suing McDonald's for $15,000 after claiming a chicken nugget left their daughter with second-degree burns.

Holmes described giving her daughter the meal and driving away before hearing the child let out"a full-blown scream" in the back of the car. Holmes' lawyers claimed in court on Monday that the nugget was 200 degrees Fahrenheit, the Sun Sentinel reported. The burns left the girl"disfigured and scarred," the lawsuit said.

McDonald's did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. However, its legal team said in a statement to the Sun Sentinel on Monday that they take complaints"very seriously."
