Man holes up inside Hillcrest doughnut shop, crisis negotiators called in [Breaking]
A man who may have a weapon of some sort refused to leave a Hillcrest doughnut shop Friday prompting San Diego police to evacuate the area and summon negotiators, police said.
Police received a call around 12:45 p.m. of a man, who appeared to be homeless, becoming belligerent with staff and patrons at the business on West Washington Street and Dove Street, said Officer Sarah Foster. At some point, witnesses reported that the man had a sword, Foster said. It was unclear during the standoff if he was still armed.The man had not surrendered to police as of 2:45 p.m., police said.This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
