BREAKING: A SWAT team was called to a doughnut shop in Hillcrest after an armed man entered the store and refused to leave, according to San Diego police.
The situation at the Donut Star shop at Dove and Washington streets began before 2:30 p.m. San Diego police originally responded to the scene and have since called in SWAT officers to support, the agency said.
San Diego police believe the man is a homeless person. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon police believe the man was armed with. It was also not clear how many customers and employees were inside the shop at the time the man entered.NBC 7 is headed to the scene. This story will be updated with the latest details.
