The Jacksonville City Council President presented his initiatives to the public today as the new members of the council were sworn in.

Salem is looking to move the jail out of Downtown, and getting a deal with the Jaguars that works for the team and the taxpayers are top priorities for him with the city budget.“It’s over 30 years old, its useful life is behind us. We need to move it in and out of Downtown, hopefully maybe out at the prison farm, or somewhere else out of downtown and consider the other issues healthcare, mental healthcare, it’s something we need to do,” he said.
“It’s transformational change, what the president just talked about, what mayor-elect Deegan is doing the next couple of years, I think we’re at the precipice of making Jacksonville one of the best cities in America,” he said.New District 11 council member Raul Arias said they are ready for the challenges ahead.
