A 'hybrid' solar eclipse is coming – here's what makes it so special, and how you can watch it:

It's a combination of an annular and a total eclipse.

-A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, casting a shadow that completely blocks the sun. This in itself only happens occasionally. -A hybrid is a combination of the two, depending on where you are. It happens because the moon's shadow changes as it moves across the curved surface of Earth. At some points, it's a total eclipse and at others an annular.
