Barnzu, located at 711 Geary St. in San Francisco, has permenantly closed. The contemporary Korean restaurant first opened in 2017.The contemporary Korean, best remembered for its array of small bites paired with soju and Korean beers, quietly closed at the end of December, owner Nathan Choi told SFGATE. Barnzu first opened in 2017 as a partnership between Choi and restaurateur Min Choe, who operates Sushi Hakko, Sushi Sako and other San Francisco-based restaurants under the Mins Group.
Since Barnzu’s closure months ago, Choi has since transformed the space at 711 Geary St. into his other restaurant concept: Kokio Republic, a former Korean fried chicken food truck that is now available on third-party delivery apps.
