Cleveland, Ohio, ranks as having some of the worst drivers of any U.S. city, according to a new report, "Worst drivers in America," from Consumer Affairs.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If you spend enough time on the roads in Cleveland, you may think you’re surrounded by some of the worst drivers in the country. And there’s new data to back up your claim.
Cleveland ranks as having some of the worst drivers in the U.S., according to a new report from Consumer Affairs. Cleveland drivers rank as the sixth-worst in the country, according to the data. In its report, titled “Worst drivers in America,” Consumer Affairs assessed the U.S. cities with the worst drivers using a number of metrics, including total car crash fatalities, total pedestrian fatalities, total fatal crashes caused by bad driving, fatalities due to positive BAC, percentage of fatal accidents linked to speeding and more.
Cleveland’s cumulative crash score is 47.3, making it sixth-worst in the U.S. and well above the U.S. average of 27.2. That 47.3 crash score is just behind fifth-place St. Louis and just ahead of seventh-place Detroit . No. 1 is Memphis, Tennessee, at 86.6. While it can certainly be unnerving to be driving in one of the worst driving cities in the U.S., Consumer Affairs offers a few tips for getting home safely. Those tips include staying calm, maintaining a safe following distance behind other cars, avoiding aggressive driving, avoiding distractions such as cell phones and always using your turn signal.2.
