Improved Clear Springs battles Alief Taylor in bi-district football playoffs
Clear Springs’ Xai-Shaun Edwards hopes to find running room when the Chargers host Alief Taylor on Friday in a bi-district playoff game.Clear Springs has been quietly flying under the radar for the past seven weeks, and that’s just fine with Chargers second-year coach Anthony Renfro.
The Chargers tied for the top spot in District 24-6A with Clear Falls and earned a No. 1 seed in Division 1. A winner in seven of its past eight games, Clear Springs may be hitting its stride as the postseason nears. “When we minimize our penalties and don’t turn the ball over, we have a chance to win any football game.”
“We have 13 or 14 guys contributing on defense, and we’re able to be pretty multiple,” Renfro said. “We’ve also done a good job in the last four or five games of not giving up the big play, and making opponents earn it.”
