Steve Sutcliffe took it to Anglesey circuit in the latest issue, so to read his verdict, pick up your copy ofThough the Mono’s single-seat, open-cockpit formula remains, the BAC Mono R has a vast spread of new elements compared to the original. As captured by Dean Smith, that F3-style airbox left of the central roll hoop is the most notable visual change, but the upgrades go much deeper.
The use of new, more advanced materials throughout its construction has made for a lower 555kg dry weight figure – that gives the Mono R a staggering 626bhp/ton power-to-weight ratio. This bodywork is now constructed from a carbon composite called graphene, and even its carbon-ceramic brake discs are lighter than before.
