Re: “Uvalde school shooting report: Read all 77 pages,” ExpressNews.com, July 17:
Page 32, “The Attacker,” opens with: “One motive that drove the man behind the massacre at Robb Elementary School was a desire for notoriety and fame. The Committee refuses to perpetuate his memory in that way. … So, instead of naming him, we call him by a generic term used in active shooter training: ‘the attacker.’”a website by Texas State University’s ALERRT Training, which discusses the “contagion effect.
Well, just two days later, the Express-News published his name and photo, identifying him to others who will find not a monster but a role model. Did the actions, or lack of actions, and lack of leadership from the responders allow more deaths to occur? But the real culprits are the lack of parenting, society, the easy access to weapons of war, the ineffective education system.
