Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick recently called for people to boycott Disney including its theme parks. A reader says Patrick may have, finally, gone too far.There was a report recently on KENS 5 regarding how increasing value of property increases your taxes.Yet, I continue my complaint that this is “taxation without representation.” We do not elect the members of the Bexar County Appraisal District or the appraisers that actually do the work.
What I remember of Disney World is the incessant song “It’s a Small World ,” where teems of robotic multiethnic children sing over and over again as one floats through the ride and people line up to take photos of princesses and cartoon characters. It is a place to get in touch with one’s inner child and escape the real world for a while. Patrick should be encouraged to go visit. After all, it’s a small world, not a small-minded one.
Let us accept Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plea and learn and take action against autocratic totalitarian governments. The graphic images of war do educate and are worth watching and remembering. Warnings about disturbing images should not deter us from learning and strengthening our better angels.
