A Pennsylvania man was arrested at Newark Airport Saturday after a handgun was fouf in his backpack, surpassing a record, TSA officials said.
A Pennsylvania man was arrested at Newark Liberty International airport on Saturday after Transportation Security Administration officers at Newark Liberty International Airport found a loaded 9mm handgun in his backpack, TSA officials said on Monday.
Port Authority Police were alerted, who confiscated the gun, interviewed the traveler, and then arrested him on a state weapons charge. His name was not released. He also could face a stiff federal financial civil penalty up to $15,000 for bringing a gun to a security checkpoint.
