Woman dead, man injured in Ramona trailer fire [Breaking]
Firefighters found a woman dead Saturday afternoon in Ramona after flames engulfed a travel trailer that was being used as a residence, authorities said.
A man who unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the fire with a hose sustained burns and smoke-inhalation injuries, according to a sheriff’s sergeant. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.This story was updated with additional details from the Sheriff’s Department.
The blaze was reported about 1:15 p.m. on Voorhes Lane north of Highland Valley Road, Cal Fire Capt. Michael Cornette said. The vehicle in question appeared to be a permanent residence.Flames had fully engulfed the trailer by the time sheriff’s deputies and firefighters arrived, San Diego County Sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Portillo said. They later found the woman dead inside.
Her name had not been released as of Sunday. Portillo said the county Medical Examiner’s Office would identify her and determine her cause and manner of death.The Sheriff’s Department’s bomb-arson unit was investigating the fire, Portillo said. The unit probes all fires involving deaths, serious injuries or suspicious circumstances.
