A 67-year-old woman was killed and an 8-year-old girl hurt in an early Monday house fire in Brooklyn, authorities said.
The blaze erupted in the rear of the two-story home on East 92nd Street near Clarkson Avenue in Brownsville around 2 a.m., officials said.
The older woman and young girl – who are believed to be related – were found inside the home suffering from smoke inhalation, police said. Their exact relationship was not immediately known. Robert MeceaThey were both taken to the Kings County Hospital Center, where the woman was pronounced dead and the girl remains in stable condition. A dozen FDNY units, including 60 firefighters and EMS workers, responded to the scene. The fire was placed under control around 2:35 a.m., the FDNY said.
