A series of wild car meetups across Philly that drew hundreds of spectators — and ended this weekend with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Anthony Allegrini Jr. by state police — was not spontaneous.

A series of takeover events across the city early Monday morning were promoted online under the slogan “Philly vs Everyone” featuring tricked-out cars, fireworks, and even one man with a flamethrower device.
