Here’s why your power might go out today in northwest Bexar County.

In response to massive growth in Northwest Bexar County, CPS will cut power to homes and businesses in the area for at least five hours on Thursday as the utility makes necessary infrastructure improvements.to homes and businesses in the area for various durations during a five-hour period Thursday as the utility makes necessary infrastructure improvements.

The disruptions will be in multiple locations, starting at 9 a.m. and ending around 2 p.m., the utility said in a news release. A little over 200 homes and businesses will be impacted in thesaid it is looking to improve the infrastructure and distribution of its electric services to support massive growth in the Cross Mountain area, which is just north of Friedrich Wilderness Park.

The Cross Mountain area’s population has ballooned three times faster than the city of San Antonio in the last decade, according to theCPS Energy said its crews will work along the Cross Mountain Trail and Scenic Loop Road areas on Thursday. In some cases, crews may require access to properties. The outages are necessary to keep crews safe, according to the news release.
