The search engine Ecosia recently announced it will invest €800,000 into prevention and restoration schemes.
“We need governments to take this issue more seriously and support proper forestry management,” she added.
Last summer, Ecosia announced its first tree planting project in the South of France with the local fire department, SDIS 13 in Fos-sur-Mer. In total, Ecosia funded and planted, and continues to protect over 100,000 trees across Northern New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Southern Queensland.
“If we keep removing the systems that have stabilised the biosphere in the past 350 million years, we will see unthinkable changes to environmental function that no amount of money or effort can fix in the 21st century,” he told me.
