In Creed 3, Adonis explains that Damian went to jail after an incident with a man named Leon, someone they both know from their past as foster kids.
Creed 3 introduces Leon in a flashback from Adonis and Dame's childhood, but the two have a dark past with the character. For the third installment of the Creed franchise, Adonis has left his boxing career behind and is now training a new generation of boxers. He's dedicated to being a father to Amara and a better husband to Bianca. However, Adonis reenters the boxing world when his childhood friend Dame shows up in town and wants Adonis to train him.
In the scene, Adonis and Dame have just gotten back from a fight, so they're feeling powerful. They also believe Leon deserves it because of how horribly he treated them when they were younger. They want to give him a taste of his own medicine and let him know that he no longer has any power over them and it is now him who should be in fear. Dame also wants to defend Adonis against Leon because he cares about his friend and wants to have his back.
