A new image from TheWhiteLotus season 2 reveals Jennifer Coolidge's return as Tanya McQuoid in the Sicily-set episodes.
Jennifer Coolidge is back in a new image from The White Lotus season 2. Running for a total of six episodes, The White Lotus was HBO’s hit of summer 2021. Created by Mike White, the story centers around a group of wealthy guests who arrive at the titular tropical resort in Hawaii and turn life upside down for the attending staff. Although it debuted well over a year ago, the series’ impact was felt during the recent Emmy nominations.
That impressive tally only added to the anticipation for The White Lotus season 2. Moving the action over to Sicily, where new staffers and guests will have their run-ins, the second installment boasts impressive additions to the cast. Adam DiMarco, Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, Haley Lu Richardson, Leo Woodall, Meghann Fahy, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Tom Hollander, and Will Sharpe will all be a part of the new episodes in either regular or recurring capacities.
Viewers will recall that early on, before The White Lotus season 1 finale, Tanya appeared like she might be one of the comedy’s relatively sympathetic depictions of the very wealthy and very deluded. That wavered as the episodes progressed, but Coolidge was a standout for how she managed to bring a bit of pathos and genuine sorrow to her portrayal in scenes that began as humorous and then gradually shed light on the darkness underlining Tanya’s strange behavior.
A previous clip of The White Lotus season 2, as part of a sizzle reel for HBO, confirmed that Greg is still with Tanya after they met at the resort. Greg brought out Tanya’s worst tendencies, leaving her depressed, anxious, and neglectful of others. It would be a little tragic, although definitely on-brand for the dark comedy, not to mention White’s previous work, should that habit continue when the series returns in a matter of months.
