The affected Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies were distributed nationwide to Target stores, according to the D. F. Stauffer Biscuit Company.

About 128,000 are hospitalized and 3,000 people die each year from preventable foodborne illnesses.Animal cookies sold at Target nationwide are being recalled because they may contain pieces of metal.

D. F. Stauffer Biscuit Company is voluntarily recalling the 44-ounce Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies,. The product comes in a bear-shaped plastic jug and the cookies are white frosted with sprinkles. Products affected have a"best by date" of Feb 21, 2023, and lot numbers Y052722.
