Carlos Correa will play in San Francisco in 2023 — except he'll do it as a visitor and a villain, rather than as the conquering hero Giants fans expected.
Nearly four months to the day after his deal with the San Francisco Giants fell apart, shortstop Carlos Correa will play at Oracle Park.
It is currently set to conclude with a game in prime time on Sunday, April 23. ESPN announced on Monday that the Giants and Mets would square off on Sunday Night Baseball, revealing the matchup before Correa's contract kerfuffle. Scott Boras, Carlos Correa's agent, told the San Francisco Chronicle and The Athletic that the Giants still wanted to negotiate a contract with the shortstop. He said the Giants didn't get back to him, prompting what he said was his"need to go talk with other teams."
Boras previously called it a"difference of opinion" in an interview with the New York Post early on Wednesday morning. Correa's aborted agreement with the Giants leaves San Francisco empty-handed during an offseason in which fans dreamed of the team adding a superstar. Instead, the Giants aren't even back at square one. After missing out on Judge, San Francisco pivoted to bringing in Correa.
