As China and the United States meet this week in Beijing, the world's two biggest carbon polluters will be looking for ways to cooperate in both domestic policy and international trade in bringing down greenhouse gas emissions as they try to recalibrate ties amid disputes over trade and security.

Climate cooperation between the world's two biggest economies is considered essential for the world's efforts to keep global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures. Past agreements have also encouraged other countries to set bolder targets.Earlier this month, the U.S.

The two agreed in the past to work on measuring methane emissions, and will likely look to expand that cooperation.
