LeBron James went on to have one of the most illustrious NBA careers of all time, but the fates of his four high school teammates are less documented.
The new LeBron James biopic movie Shooting Stars depicts the life of the basketball phenom before his rise to NBA stardom. The new movie documents LeBron's experience as a young adult with his high school basketball team at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. Shooting Stars is based on a 2009 autobiography of the same name written by James and Buzz Bissinger, author of Friday Night Lights.
The point guard and former LeBron teammate went on to play for a number of foreign professional teams in Germany, beginning with Ratiopharm Ulm for the first two tears of his professional career. Dru Joyce III played professionally in Europe until he retired in 2019 as a member of the Science City Jena out of Germany.
In 2015, McGee became the Athletic Director at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where he served for seven years before taking a role in 2022 with the LeBron James Family Foundation. McGee also founded the D.A.L.E. Program in 2016, which is focused on assisting disadvantaged youths through team athletics.
