WerewolfByNight star Gael García Bernal credits Andor lead Diego Luna with helping him acclimate to Disney fame: 'So it’s been great to have a good friend who’s also living something similar as well.'
Werewolf by Night star Gael García Bernal says Andor's Diego Luna has helped him adjust to his Marvel star status. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's first Halloween special, Werewolf By Night, is based on Marvel Comics characters that debuted in 1972. Following García Bernal's monster hunter character Jack Russell, the recent Disney+ special sees Jack transform into a werewolf and encounter other Marvel monster hunters and monsters, such as Man-Thing.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY On the Star Wars side, Andor episode 5 aired on Disney+ recently, with the series nearing its half-way point for season 1. Acting as a prequel to the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor centers on Cassian Andor prior to his turn as a rebel hero. Luna stars as the titular protagonist, and the series has received praise for Luna's portrayal of the character along with the show's serious tone and grounded, gritty feel.
" We are doing something [Hulu’s La Máquina] together right now, and so we’re always kind of in touch with each other. It’s been great. He’s also been a point of reference to help me. When we were at the D23 conference, he was the one who explained to me what was happening because it was my first time. It was quite crazy.
Disney's Marvel And Star Wars Casts Have Plenty Of Crossover Since García Bernal and Luna already have starring roles in two major Disney franchises in common as well as a history of starring together in films such as Alfonso Cuarón's Y tu mamá también, it's nice to see that the actors have made an effort to continue working together with Hulu's La Máquina.
As both franchises continue to add to their extensive catalogs with Disney+ series and both streaming and theatrical features, that list of shared actors will likely continue to expand, especially considering that Marvel and Lucasfilm are both owned by Disney, and the franchises share creatives such as Favreau and Waititi. Additionally, Werewolf By Night and Andor, each led by a major Mexican actor, have seen the MCU and Star Wars grow more inclusive, a trend which will likely continue.
