In the wake of the Tuesday subway shooting, CurtisSliwa, the founder of crime-stopping group the Guardian Angels and a former mayoral candidate, warned that NYC will continue to lose residents if it doesn't clean up its act and fund the police.
“A billion dollars was never put back. We never were able to get the cops back that we so desperately need," he told Sean Hannity on his show Tuesday evening."Crime in the subway is up 200%," he added."You’ve got to take the handcuffs off the police, flood the system, do stop and frisk, and return some civility to the subway system."According to Sliwa, if this isn't fixed,"New York City will never recover.
The shooting left 10 people with gunshot wounds, making it the worst in the city's subway history. Other people were left with injuries related to smoke inhalation, falls, or panic attacks, said the New York Police Department's chief of detectives, James Essig. Authorities have also said all victims are expected to recover."Frank Robert James is WANTED in connection with firing numerous gunshots inside of a subway car causing serious injuries to 10 victims.
