in the walls at Clements High School, built in 1983, were ever cool but we’re pretty sure the sagging style of the building’s sinking foundation is passe in any era.

The district is hoping that voters will see that the Clements rebuild and the bond in general, which includes something for every campus save a handful of newly constructed ones, is a strategic attempt to play catch up on years of deferred maintenance and to build on the district’s attractive reputation.

Indeed, the bond shouldn’t be a surprise to voters. When voters approved a $992.6 million bond in 2018, it was sold as part of a two-part plan with a second $705.5 million bond in 2021. COVID interrupted the plan. Now, the district is trying to make up for lost time. Clements families have been assured that the campus is safe, for now, but what about for future generations?
