Scientists have discovered 99% of the Southern Resident Killer Whales had lesions after they looked at photos taken between 2004 to 2016 to analyze their skin.

Researchers said the wounds on the whale’s skin could potentially indicate that their immune systems are compromised, and that it might be difficult for them to fight off disease. The group of scientists stressed further research is needed.
