As UTSA returned to practice Sunday, linebacker Dadrian Taylor noticed a mix of strained lungs and fresh bodies.
Though a few of UTSA’s standouts will miss the rest of the season due to injury, coach Jeff Traylor hopes the continued recovery of the remaining group can keep the Roadrunners on the rise. Roadrunners defensive lineman Asyrus Simon said slowing McBride and UAB’s rushing game will be “the biggest challenge this week.” “I still stand by that,” Traylor said. “Going into UAB, it’s not just an opinion, it’s factual that it’s one of the toughest places to play in the country.”At the halfway point of the C-USA regular season, the Roadrunners are alone atop the league standings as the only undefeated team. UTSA also holds a head-to-head win against North Texas — the conference’s only one-loss team.
A win would move UTSA to the precipice of securing a spot in the C-USA title game, but Traylor brushed off the notion that the Roadrunners had created any cushion.
