With most of the usual stalwarts sitting out, UTSA's newcomers and depth players had a chance to mimic a game day atmosphere for 7,000 fans at the Alamodome.

With an estimated 7,000 fans nearly filling seven sections along the home sideline, Traylor saw a few errors that never seem to arise on the usual confines of the practice fields at the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence, including a muffed punt, a fumbled kickoff, a missed 29-yard field goal and a couple of errant snaps.
The Roadrunners ran through pregame stretch lines the same way they would for any fall kickoff, then sprinted onto the field behind a group of cheerleaders waving UTSA flags, with the lights dimmed and the usual team hype video flashing across the Alamodome screens. With quarterback Frank Harris and top receivers De’Corian Clark, Joshua Cephus and Zakhari Franklin all watching from the sideline, Marburger started behind center and hit a deep pass down the middle to Carpenter on the game’s opening snap.
