Authorities issued a fire prevention order Wednesday that restricted access to public lands in the vicinity of the Jacob City Fire, west of Stockton, which is still burning at 19% containment.

In an interview with police Tuesday, the man said he plugged a circular saw into his generator, which he had recently purchased refurbished. The saw’s cord had been cut, spliced and taped back together, officials said in the release. When the man attempted to extinguish the fire, he tossed burning sage and embers under the RV — where another gas canister was located, which ignited and began burning the RV. He then called 911.
