An apartment complex fire impacted about 20 units and left between 50 and 75 people displaced.An apartment complex fire in west Houston left between 50 and 75 people displaced Monday night, according to Community Volunteer Fire Department officials.
The fire affected about 20 apartment units, Kris Parrent, spokesperson for the Community Volunteer Fire Department, told On Scene reporters. Some apartments were destroyed by the fire and left charred. Shortly after 10 p.m. the volunteer fire department got around 12 calls for a fire at Cozumel Apartments at 6403 Sierra Blanca Drive.“With tonight's wind that spread very quickly,” Parrent said.The Red Cross helped those displaced find shelter for the night.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known Monday night, but the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
