The University of Houston board of regents on Thursday approved a revised $140 million budget for the football operations center that will begin construction by the end of the year.
The facility – to be built on the west side of TDECU Stadium – is expected to be completed by summer 2025.Construction of the football operations center will cost $118.3 million, according to documents presented at the board of regents meeting, and includes enhancements to the west end zone, including the addition of premium seating and larger scoreboard.
The remaining $21.7 million will go toward architectural and engineering fees, professional services and test fees, furniture and miscellaneous items. The original budget for the project was $75 million, a total that soared in the past few years due to a significant rise in post-pandemic supply chain costs.
