Thousands participated in the event, which retraces Stephen Siller's final footsteps from the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Johny Fernandez reports from the start line of the annual Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Walk and RunThe annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk in honor of fallen firefighter Stephen Siller, who died on September 11, 2001, returned to the streets of New York City Sunday.
The event is a tribute to the 343 firefighters and first responders who were killed on 9/11, as well as the service members who died during the war on terror. At the starting line, firefighters, families, and city leaders waited for the airhorn to blow to go on a special journey, one that's personal for many runners.
For first time runners like Tiffany Eckert, her family has benefitted from the foundation. She ran in memory of her late husband who died while fighting in the military over seas.
