'Feed the Kids' is a new effort to combat food insecurity among young people in Tucson, which ranks high for food insecurity for kids.
Lydia Watts Steven Cota-Robles, the founder of the Tucson Family food project, was working at Whole Foods when he decided to drop everything in 2020 for his mission.
Cota-Robles said he believes that when a kid knows how to cook, they can provide for themselves and their whole family, giving them the power to enact change in their lives and prepare themselves for the real world. Often kids are home alone, and this project will give them the skills to make delicious and healthy meals for themselves.

Cota-Robles even described the Tucson Family Food project as a type of crime prevention because kids don't have to go to extreme measures to obtain food.
