Giuliani, Trump’s former lawyer, has reportedly struggled to raise enough for his legal bills. Both men are among the 19 people indicted in Georgia on charges that they participated in a wide-ranging illegal scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Trump’s codefendant was so stretched for cash he and his lawyer “made personal appeals to the former president over a two-hour dinner in April at his Mar-a-Lago estate and in a private meeting at his golf club in West Palm Beach,”The fundraiser will be held on Sept. 7 and include a one-and-a-half hour roundtable with Trump and Giuliani, followed by a dinner, according to a flyer for the event.
The Fulton County prosecution is the fourth criminal case against Trump since March, when he became the first former president in U.S. history to be indicted. Since then, he’s faced federal charges in Florida and Washington. In Atlanta, 18 others — including his ex-chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and former Giuliani — under a racketeering statute normally associated with gang members and organized crime.
