Re “U.S. vets: Afghanistan pullout ‘catastrophic” :
U.S. active military members and veterans testifying to the House Republicans’ committee investigating Joe Biden’s handling of the withdrawal of U.S. officials and military and their Afghani supporters from Afghanistan say the pullout was catastrophic. Yes, it was chaos. But former President Donald Trump negotiated the pullout with the leaders of the Taliban while he was still president and set the date.
In Marc Scribner’s piece on a state transit plan, he missed maybe the most important aspect of any plan. Years ago when I was discussing mass transit options near a new workplace, a coworker joked that the problem with public transportation is that the public is on it. And that was back when public transit was much cleaner and safer than it is now.
