The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Tropical Depression Seven to Tropical Storm Fiona in the Atlantic.

As of the NHC's 8 a.m. update, Fiona was about 545 miles east of the Leeward Islands and moving with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles to the east of the center. Little change in strength is expected over the next few days. On the current track, Fiona's center is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands late Friday and Friday night, and move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend. The Dominican Republic and Haiti may also be impacted.
