The shooting of 17-year-old Erik Cantu on Oct. 2 by a police officer has attracted global attention as the San Antonio Police Department on Tuesday referred criminal charges against that officer, James Brennand, who has since been fired.
James Brennand, 27, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of aggravated assault by a peace officer in connection with the Oct. 2 shooting of 17-year-old Erik Cantu and a passenger in the car Cantu was driving at the time of the incident.statement to the Express-News from the teen’s family“Erik and our family would like to thank all of our family, friends, the great city of San Antonio and everyone around the world that has sent their heartfelt prayers and blessings,” it read.
