The Duffer brothers, who helm the massively popular Netflix series, recently shared that a beloved character was almost permanently killed off after their battle with Vecna. Yes, that means Max almost met her end instead of briefly dying before being brought back to life by Eleven; when we left the characters, Max was in a coma that we're not sure she'll ever wake up from.
According to Matt Duffer, the plan for season four was for the characters to experience real losses. “We wanted our characters to experience what that felt like. That was the big idea coming into Season 4, that they were going to lose," he explained. "We were going to introduce Vecna and they were going to lose to him. That sets our characters up for what will be the ultimate final confrontation with Vecna and with the Upside Down in Season 5.
