Forget the current Blazer. This is something totally different.
In March of this year, Chevy announced its first high performance all-electric vehicle, which will resurrect name from the not-so-distant past: Get ready for the upcoming. Apparently Chevy has been taking note of its competition, packaging its first sporty EV in a crossover body and slapping an iconic brand nameplate on it, just like what Ford did with the Mustang Mach-E. If it worked for Ford, maybe it'll work here, too.
After teasing the new Blazer SS in a short video clip posted to the brand's social media channels depicting a red vehicle's charge port in the front fender, with a cable plugged in, GM has opened the floodgates with a full-frontal photo of the new electric crossover and confirmed its reveal date: July 18, 2022.
Details are still scarce for now, but GM exec Mark Reuss previously said an upcoming Blazer EV would be"an affordable, high-volume entry," in an investor call last year. CEO Mary Barra, in a tweet shown above, promises full information will come July 18.is a conventional crossover with Camaro-inspired styling and either a turbocharged inline-4 cylinder making 288 horsepower, or a naturally-aspirated V-6 making 308 horsepower.
The Blazer SS is Chevy's first performance EV, but it's not the first under the General Motors umbrella. GM has relaunched Hummer as an all-electric performance brand, and has also announced sportier new Cadillac and Buick EVs already, as well. One of
