Tesla drivers need a better way to understand how their gadgets work.

Q: I really enjoy driving my Tesla 3, with its many enhanced safety features and AI-like tools. It’s fun for me as a software developer, but many of my less computer savvy friends have difficulty mastering their new cars. My car’s manual is only available online. At well over 200 pages, who really reads this??? The net result is that a lot of the stuff is not understood and does not get used.

And having rented several cars recently, I find there is no consistency in safety features between brands. Manufacturers need to provide a brief written “getting started guide” to help drivers use the vehicles. This would make for safer and saner driving.Q: I am new to motorcycle riding on the freeway. On my southbound approach to Highway 101 near Oakland Road in San Jose, I noticed some bumpy road, coupled with standing water. I immediately recognized this trouble spot from reading your column.
