San Antonio Police say numbers are down from last year: theft offenses down over 2%, robbery down nearly 1% and stolen property offenses down over 4%. SAN ANTONIO - After the pandemic, theft across the country rose. A survey of retailers across the U.S. found shoplifting is now 2% to 3% of their total sales.

Evans feels blessed. While her popular spot hasn’t been hit with crime, she takes nothing for granted.The National Retail Federation says retailers on average saw a 26.5% increase in retail crime in the past year. "The businesses come together and many of the businesses have either a video photos of the assailant,” says Rebecca Viagran with the South Texas Business Partnership.
