X-Men still hasn't solved one of the first mysteries introduced in its new era - Kate Pryde's inability to use Krakoa's teleportation gates. Happily for fans, that means Kate's time on the high seas will continue with a new crew.

In the very first issue of the Marauders relaunch in Marvel Comics, Kate Pryde is shown being unable to use the Krakoan portals, portals made specifically for mutants to use, and that great mystery as to why Kate Pryde can’t use them still hasn’t been solved by the X-Men yet. Marauders is on the cusp of getting an all-new creative team, but not before the old one potentially addresses the greatest mystery that has yet to be solved.

While a new creative team behind Marauders comic series will take over on March 30 with writer Steve Orlando and artist Eleonora Carlini, the original team still have a few loose ends to tie up. Writer Gerry Duggan and artists Matteo Lolli and Phil Noto are the original writer and artists behind Marauders and while they set up questions behind Kate Pryde and her access to Krakoa that have remained unanswered, the preview for one of their last issues could give fans some clarity.

After Forge makes that statement, the preview ends leaving fans wondering whether or not he will be able to figure out why Kate can’t use the portals in this or any upcoming issues. The mystery was presented on the first few pages of Marauders #1 and seemed like it was going to be the main focus of at least the first storyline of the run, but it has barely been addressed since it was presented.

If Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli and Phil Noto don’t answer the question they themselves asked, then it will be up to Steve Orlando and Eleonora Carlini to do it for them. While that is a definite possibility, it doesn’t seem likely given the uniqueness behind that mystery, giving fans the impression that Duggan, Lolli, and Noto had a definitive reason to create this struggle for Kate, and will likely deliver a satisfying payoff.
