Instances such as this erase the very identities of LGBT+ people and exacerbate the “otherness” and isolation that is felt. Assumptions and negative language, especially in a health-care setting that is supposed to be safe, can cause irreparable harm. Particularly in Canada, with that should serve to prohibit discrimination in health-care settings, there is no place for these ongoing biases. that is evidence-based, focused on health equity, actionable and inclusive will serve to address the inequities faced by LGBT+ people in the health-care system. Additionally, government, education and health system leadership is essential for advancing robust LGBT+ public health policy.
